Love yourself enough to be honest with yourself– A review and insights on a book entitled “Stop Hidden Addictions” by Bo Sanchez

4 out of 5 star

You might be wondering, is there such things as external and internal addictions? After reading this book, yes there is! Bo Sanchez said that for every external addiction that we have (e.g. computer game addiction, drug addiction, etc.), there is always an internal addiction that we must first conquer in order for us to pass through our external addiction because if we don’t treat our internal addiction, even if we treated an external addiction, our body will always find another addictions.

The lessons that I have accumulated in reading this books may be summed into three important points:

  1. Our addictions are just pain killers
  2. Loving yourself and;
  3. You are God’s Child, Friend and Powerful Champion

Let me explain each one. Our Addictions are just pain killers Bo Sanchez said that if there is pain inside you, it only means that there is something wrong within your body. The malfunctioning of the body must be treated in order for us to feel the comfort that we have but in these days, many people would settle in pain-killers. These pain-killers would only block the pain but it doesn’t cure the malfunctioning of the body that causes the pain. The tendency is we IGNORE the pain and pretend that it doesn’t exist. Just like your addictions, there is something wrong in your life and because you don’t want to face it, you go to your addictions. Citing an example is Pou, the panda in the movie Kung Fu Panda, he had a food addiction because he eat when he is upset. Love yourself I think this is the most challenging part of our life, to love ourselves. Bo Sanchez pointed out that because God loves you, he is giving you the right to love yourself. But the problem in most of us, we don’t love ourselves because we live and known in this planet that if we committed sin, God is really mad of us and because we always commit the same mistakes all over again, we think that we don’t deserve to praise God. After this, we hate ourselves resulting in a low self-esteem attitude. Bo Sanchez would like you to know that God already forgive you, you just don’t forgive yourself. He also added, in order for us to love ourselves, we must forgive ourselves, accept our weaknesses, feel our emotions, and trust our needs. Because if we love ourselves, there will be a “self” that can God used to blessed others.

Your God’s Child, Friend, and Powerful Champion

Being a child of God, friend and powerful champion means he always have time to hear and talk with you in order for you to change the world, the thing is do you love yourself to have time to talk with him? My friend, God loves you more than you have just imagined. He is not the judge or the terrorizing leader in you imagination, he is just a friend waiting for you to come

These  are my only insights about the book but if you want to go further about conquering your hidden addictions, its time to pick-up this book and revolutionize your old self. Bo also shares some of his stories about his past addiction which he conquered. Its time to love yourself enough to be honest with yourself and others.

God Bless! Keep strive harder, live smarter!
